About

Hello, my name is Reed Andariese. I have been a commercial photographer for over 40 years. My studio is located in Northern New Jersey. I have had a clientele with a broad range of photographic requests, from food, hi-tech, jewelry and other commercial assignments. I have shot items as small as on the head of a pin to oversized items such as cars, in my studio. Because of the demands and deadlines of our clients, I needed to find a way to de-stress. The most relaxing and rewarding way I found was to pick up a camera and get out in nature and do some more photography. It is peaceful and yet still allows me to be creative at the same time.  Plus you have to work with what you find or come across, and be creative to make the most of what you see. But this is on my terms and not a client’s. In a way digital has made it fun again, you can instantly see what you have captured on your display and make adjustments or try different versions to get what you are trying to get in your mind’s eye. Because of constant work deadlines, I do not have the time to go to distant locations. I can photograph locally. I even have a great time finding things to photograph in my own yard. The challenge is to try to find something others would overlook.

The purpose of my blog is to share some of my photos and tips I have picked up along the way. I chose the name Photo Art Flight because of my interest from childhood in things that fly. I started with aviation photography, but progressed to birds, because they were more challenging, and insects like dragonflies.  Thanks for stopping by and giving my blog a look. Stop back to see what is new and look for helpful tips on everything from photography to Photoshop.

  3. Thank you for sharing your fine hobby. Your work is lovely!

  4. Your last name reminded me of an only slightly different Spanish word, andariego, which is an adjective that means ‘wandering, fond of travel, restless.’ That contradicts what you say about not having the time to go to distant locations. There is indeed much to be found close to home, if only one looks, as you do so well.

  5. Reed,

Fantastic. What can I say? I am blown away. Stunning images. You may be doing this to relax, but there are two things that go into images such as these: skill and hard work.

    Thank you for sharing,

    Paul

    • Thanks Paul! I remember 40 years ago you loaned me a Nikon and lens to try. I had liked your nature photos from Ramapo back then but was busy with commercial work. Now I find it relaxing and challenging at the same time. But I get to shoot what I like and find interesting! And it is great to be out in the fresh air!
